Uranium Mining in Virginia: A Community Discussion with Del. Joe Bouchard

The Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy and the Tidewater Sowers of Justice will host a discussion for concerned citizens about Uranium mining in Virginia, with remarks by Delegate Joe Bouchard and members of the Virginia Beach City Council. It appears from this announcement that the current study is not to determine the feasibility of mining Coles Hill without contaminating every living thing for the next gazillion years but rather to assess the risks of lifting the moratorium preventing uranium mining! Those goals are related but they are in no way identical! What is the true purpose of the study? This may be the place to find out!

Please join the Virginia Interfaith Center, Tidewater Sowers of Justice, and Del. Joe Bouchard on March 18th for a discussion on Uranium Mining in Virginia.

Del. Bouchard will share his insight into the current study commision tasked with assessing the risks of lifting the moratorium on Uranium Mining in Virginia.

Members of the Virigina Beach City Council (who have passed a resolution on Uranium Mining), Norfolk City Council and residents of Gretna and Chatham (site of the proposed mining) have been invited to join us for this discussion as well.

We hope to see on Wednesday, March 18th from 7:30-9:00pm.
